Kenya HIV/AIDS Ministry
The Center partners with two primary organizations in Kenya.
1. With the Kaaga Synod of the Kenya Methodist Church, the Center supports a program reaching out to persons infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. A community based outreach in Meru, Kenya, the program reaches out to persons with home health care workers as well as a program that helps about 300 AIDS orphans. Led by Ms. Florence Murugu and supervised by Bishop William Muruki, the program is ecumencial and interfaith--a model program addressing stigma and discrimination.
In 2010 the Center has raised about $20,000 to support AIDS orphans. For $150 orphan and vulnerable children are helped to get education, nutrition, better shelter, safety, legal protection, and care.
Florence Murugu explains the Kenya Ministry to persons infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.
2. The Center also seeks to support Maua Methodist Hospital, which serves a vast region of rural Kenya. In 2010 the Center is seeking to raise $23,000 in order to partner with Project C.U.R.E. so that nearly $400,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment can be shipped to Kenya. Funds are currently being received by the Center.
